Introducing the second offering of our exploratory, new Fusion Series: Foxcatcher!

While taking inspiration from our original award-winning overdrive, we’ve incorporated a new and exciting twist to this familiar favorite! We removed the original clipping diodes from the circuit entirely and replaced them two different types of clipping devices accessible via a toggle switch. The silicon position (SI) sports four MOSFET transistors configured to act as clipping diodes which gives the drive a more aggressive sound. The germanium position (GE) implements four Ukrainian-made, germanium diodes for a more compressed and smooth timbre. Fusion Series Foxcatcher also boasts a wider tone sweep and additional volume output.

The idea behind the Fusion Series is to explore alternative sonic possibilities from our existing line-up. Retaining some familiar CopperSound design themes while implementing a variety of unused aesthetics. When we started expanding our Mini Series line-up, we wanted to be sure to offer a versatile catalog. The idea for a compressor had been in the foreground of our conversations. Given the space confines of our mini enclosure, paired with the size of traditional through-hole components, we were forced to get creative when it came to designing circuits. Compressor circuits are well-known for often being rather large. These two factors sparked the idea for Iris – an optical compressor using only 25 total parts.

Introducing Kingpin! A mini, two-stage FET overdrive pedal full of warm characteristics and Germanium sweetness.

Although typically associated with fuzz pedals, Kingpin’s Germanium aspect takes the form of clipping diodes as opposed to transistors. These Ukrainian diodes are set up as a hard clipper and are placed directly between the two FET stages. These two FET stages are comprised of a blend of both MOSFET and JFET. The MOSFET delivers a great, first gain stage with high headroom. This does a great job of driving the symmetrical pair of diodes. Kingpin doubles down on the warmth by implementing a JFET as the second gain stage. This mini gain monster is capable of overdriving your signal with bell-like clarity and an artful touch of grit, making it the very definition of an “always on” pedal!

Germanium warmth without the price tag.

Kingpin also carries a tremendous amount of gain on tap via the Volume knob. Thus allowing players to use it as a dirty boost should the circumstances call for it. Go from a touch of grit to full on garage rock with a flip of the CLIP toggle switch. Kingpin also features a variable voltage input. As a result, the user can safely power-up this germanium clipper with any center negative power ranging from 9v to 18v. Higher voltage will yield greater headroom. Give it a try! You know you want to.

The CLIP toggle makes this mini monster even more versatile, giving the user access to more aggressive levels of the same satisfying Germanium clipping. Ranging from subtle to saturated, whilst retaining depth and definition. Making it a nice, low-gain first stage. Subsequently, it can be a standalone overdrive. Try it stacked with other drives, too. Affordable Germanium can sound like an oxymoron. Kingpin makes this a reality. Germanium warmth without the price tag.

The idea of a Mini Series pedal that featured a Germanium element was very attractive and intriguing to us. Especially in this world of ever-shrinking Germanium supplies. For some years now, we had been sourcing Germanium diodes from Ukraine. So when we started working on a Mini Series Germanium overdrive pedal, these were the diodes to utilize. Furthermore, we wanted to offer them in an affordable model. Thus, Kingpin was born!

DESCRIPTION

Make way for the new Killswitch on the block! The successor to our popular Telegraph Stutter pedal, Telegraph V2 is our all new, redesigned killswitch and stutter system. Retaining aspects of the original design, Telegraph V2 features updated, proprietary all metal hardware. This sturdy (and stylish) upgrade now allows the player to control the effect with their feet, whilst retaining tactile efficiency for hand operation. On the inside, we’ve designed a brand new Active circuit from the ground up. Featuring new modes and parameters effectively impossible to attain on the original Stutter.

In addition to the classic Kill and Activate modes, we are excited to present: Burst mode! Burst mode is an automatic, tremolo-like stutter, adjustable from 110bpm to an astonishingly fast rate, set by the Burst Knob. In Burst mode, the effect can be latched (with a quick press of the key), or triggered momentarily (when the key is held). For the player that would prefer to only have momentary mode, we provide an internal dip switch to turn off the latching feature.

Additionally – emulating aspects of the original Kill and Activate modes – the “Polarity” toggle on the side of the enclosure further enhances the possibilities of Burst mode. When Polarity is set to “Kill”, your clean signal passes through until the key is pressed (engaging Burst). When set to “Activate”, no audio will be heard until the key is pressed, allowing for controlled bursts of sound! You can additionally control the rate of Burst mode externally by an expression pedal, or synced to a CV clock source to match the tempo. To cap it all off, Telegraph V2 features an integrated, power loss fail-safe, inso that if the pedal should lose power, it will automatically revert to a bypass state. This newly re-imagined telegraph pedal serves as a unique and creative tool for both live and studio use. Where rugged engineering meets on-the-fly inspiration!

Introducing our latest potent sonic disruptor, in a pint-sized package! Renegade is a simple, no frills fuzz device with a compact and straight-forward interface; a complement to our growing line of Mini Pedals. Derived originally from the classic Tone Bender MK1.5, Renegade strays off the standard path, in part due to its integrated bias control. This toggle switch allows the player to easily select between two different bias voltages; resulting in a classic, full bodied-fuzz tone in the “up” position, and a more modern and gated fuzz in the “down” position. A hallmark feature of this micro-sized pedal is its long sustain, and an “electric sizzle” as your signal fades (especially prominent in the “down” position). Sine wave shakes and gritty earthquakes. Derived from the infamous earthquake of 1989, Loma Prieta is a gritty, Harmonic Tremolo with four Wave-Shape modes (Sine, Square, Ramp Up, and Ramp Down), determined to rumble the ground beneath your feet. Each mode can be used in conjunction with our momentary “Shift” Footswitch, which engages Tap Tempo, as well as Lo-Fi, Feedback Distortion, and Double-Time effects. The onboard Grit control allows you to add some sweet-sounding dirt to the tremolo circuit, with enough gain on tap to strike a 10 on the Richter Scale. Our EXP input allows you to easily control the rate of the tremolo using a standard expression pedal, or plug a mono patch cable into the EXP Input, and flip the internal DIP switch to engage external Tap Tempo. The mini toggle switch on Loma’s top side allows you to go from Harmonic Tremolo to a more standard style of trem; this is reflected by the Tap Tempo LED (Red for Harmonic, Yellow for Standard). Emulate the earthquake itself.

The Swiss Army Commander.

Foxcatcher is the result of six month of trial and study. After a variety of breadboard builds and circuit explorations, we finally decided to clear the breadboard and start with a circuit that we loved, the Bluesbreaker. From there, we began changing and adding to the base circuit. The first of which was a slight change to the tone section and the addition of the Nature knob. From there, we added an output buffer and true bypass stylings. From the start, we wanted to have an independent boost section on the pedal. That decision was easy, our Gravity Bomb. Once real world testing was in full swing, we started showing friends, family and local dealers. Taking everyones critiques in to consideration, we added an effect order toggle switch. Lastly, we incorporated a Burr Brown audiophile op amp and made it so that Foxcatcher can receive up to 18 volts. This allows for even more clarity. John du Pont’s signature pedal.
VOLUME – Controls the overall output volume.
TONE – Controls the overall brightness. Adjust to taste.
NATURE – The “magic” knob! Use in conjunction with Tone and Drive to sculpt a glassier, tube-driven effect.
DRIVE – Controls the amount of overdrive. Get gritty while adding sustain.
FIRST TOGGLE – Determines whether the boost is pre (adds gain) or post (adds volume) to the drive circuit.
BOOST KNOB – Controls the desired boost amount when the right footswitch is engaged.
9V-18V – Standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm center negative power supply. Foxcatcher has internal polarity protection. 18V is recommended for the “always on” player for it’s added clarity.
